Clayton Hotel presents new look after stylish refurbishment

CB1’s Clayton Hotel offers Cambridge visitors an elegant and stylish place to stay. A recent refurbishment has upgraded a number of public spaces and facilities, providing additional spaces and a fresh look as guests travel once again following pandemic restrictions.

Its new meeting and events spaces reflect the modern and sophisticated design of the hotel, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and an upgraded air filtration system to keep safety and comfort a priority for visitors. The versatile spaces are ideal for business meetings and conferences during the day, transforming into a modern private dining room by night for special events.

The refurbishment has also upgraded the hotel’s technical facilities, with rooms offering high spec technology including Interactive Display systems with touch annotation – perfect for catering for hybrid and virtual meetings.

 

 

We spoke to Nikki Farr, Director of Sales and Marketing at Clayton Hotel, about what it brings to CB1 and plans for the future:

 

What brought you to the Clayton Hotel and what does your role include?

I have travelled a lot with my job over the years and wanted to come back to my Cambridge roots. The Clayton Hotel has a great reputation for looking after its staff and clients, so I was delighted to join the team. As for my role, I sell everything the hotel has to offer: 160 bedrooms, 4 meetings rooms and a restaurant. I am also responsible for all of the marketing for the hotel, and getting the brand out to market.

 

What would you say is the Clayton Hotel’s key offering to CB1?

Of course, we have bedrooms for when clients in CB1 are visiting the offices or have family that visit Cambridge. But we are also a great central hub for team lunches and dinners or for when clients want a meeting away from the office. Our ground-floor restaurant is open to all, featuring seasonal dishes as well as a bar serving a delicious range of classic cocktails and craft beers.

 

How has business changed since the pandemic?

We are getting a lot more leisure visitors than we had before the pandemic, as corporates almost stopped travelling during Covid restrictions. I am delighted to say this has opened the doors to families visiting as well as a larger proportion of guests in the 21 – 25 year old age group, which was not so common before. We saw a 7% growth in visitors from London and a huge demand for hen parties. It’s great for any business to widen its markets, and so we are pleased that this is continuing.
