WeWork On Demand launches at 50-60 Station Road
WeWork is embracing the ‘great office return’ and has launched WeWork On Demand in Cambridge; a ‘pay-as-you-go’ provision for its shared workspace and meeting rooms at 50-60 Station Road.
The service was first piloted in New York last December and has now been rolled out at nearly 300 locations globally.
The flexible workspace provider fulfils a desire for flexibility and collaboration which has seen a growing demand as employees look for locations to return to work between the home and the office. A survey by Accenture found that 79% of respondents appreciated the option to work from a so-called ‘third space’ – from a hotel room, cafe or retailer with dedicated, but informal, workspace.
WeWork On Demand helps workers to return to city centres by offering flexible space with little commitment or planning. Desks can be booked for £45 per day while meeting rooms can be hired at a cost of £15 per hour through a mobile app.
WeWork 50-60 Station Road can accommodate up to 442 people across a combination of shared workspace and private offices over three floors at the CB1 site.
We spoke to Dominic Rowley, Community Manager at WeWork, about company's future at CB1:
What makes WeWork's model, and the launch of On Demand, so important for users?
"The future of work is all about flexibility. Now they’ve been exposed to new ways of working throughout the pandemic, workers want more options in how, when and where they work and are craving human interaction more than ever. WeWork has been at the forefront of flexible space for the last decade and we’re constantly thinking about ways to innovate on our product and give people more flexibility. WeWork On Demand now gives workers the optionality to choose a location like WeWork 50-60 Station Road that maybe is closer to home than HQ or an escape from their home office, straight from their smartphones with no commitment required."
How does this fit the Cambridge market?
"WeWork On Demand helps companies embrace a hybrid workplace model in which employees have the flexibility to decide where they spend their time. We are delighted to bring this service to our Cambridge location and have started to see workers use it to book meeting rooms and work from our beautifully designed workspaces at 50-60 Station Road for the day."
What makes the CB1 location such a desirable location for co-workers?
"At WeWork, we want to bring our members beautiful spaces in the most sought after and convenient locations. CB1 offers our members the convenience of being next to the train station as well as being in the heart of the community surrounded by local businesses & food vendors so it’s the perfect location for us to provide our world-renowned member experience to workers in the city.
"We’re certainly in the most desirable spot in one of the UK’s greatest cities!"
