Cows about Cambridge
For 10 weeks in the summer of 2021 a herd of colourful cows grazed the city squares and greens around Cambridge. CB1 hosted several of the 50 large cow sculptures that were ‘Cows about Cambridge’, an initiative to support local arts and charities.
This family-friendly art trail encouraged residents and visitors to explore the city’s streets, buildings and unfamiliar places. Organised by Wild in Art, each fibreglass cow was sponsored by a local business and given a unique coat of colour by a different artist. An inspiring Learning Programme saw local school children painting their own mini cow models.
The arts initiative was supported by Cambridge Business Improvement District (BID) and generates huge economic value for the city. It also raises funds for Break, a local charity which supports vulnerable young people and families across Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
