Cows about Cambridge
Keep your eyes peeled for a herd of colourful cows who’ll be grazing the city squares and greens around Cambridge for 10 weeks next year. CB1 will be hosting several of the 50 large cow sculptures that will appear as part of ‘Cows about Cambridge’, an initiative to support local arts, charities and businesses.
This family-friendly art trial is to encourage residents and visitors to explore the city’s streets, buildings and unfamiliar places. Organised by Wild in Art, each fibreglass cow will be sponsored by a local business and given a unique coat of colour by a different artist. An inspiring Learning Programme will see local school children painting their own mini cow models.
The arts initiative is supported by Cambridge Business Improvement District (BID) and is expected to generate more than £8million of economic value for the city. It will also raise funds for Break, a local charity which supports vulnerable young people and families across Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
